Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center, inspired by the leading international provider of experiential and outdoor education, resides in Boston Harbor Islands National Park.

It remains one of our nation’s only urban-based programs. An independent nonprofit, Thompson offers Boston’s middle schools courses designed to help students develop leadership skills and character, and opportunities for service learning and sustainable living.

We contributed the Lewis Expedition Center, building with such “green” tenets as renewable materials and energy-efficient heating and cooling. The center provides Thompson with 8,000 square feet of space for multiple purposes.
