Started in 2012 by the local municipalities in Turkey, these education centers offer women the opportunity to learn both traditional handicraft skills as well as new ones.

The Nevsehir Public Education Center has donated both the space and provides a teacher to organize courses for the local women to participate in.

At Nevsehir, over 100 women have participated in courses and currently 18 women are actively taking advantage of this opportunity to both gain new skills and socialize with their neighbors.

Grand Circle Foundation has recently partnered with the Cat Women’s Handicraft Cooperative in Nevsehir, where local women can bond and receive training to develop new skills or hone existing skills necessary for creating traditional handicrafts that they will be able to sell.

Foundation funds have already been allocated for the purchase of sewing machines and other supplies for the center. We look forward to doing more for these local women who have chosen to take an active role in acquiring skills that can improve their lives and provide them with hope for a better future.
