“As for the future, it is not a question of predicting it, but of making it possible.” – Saint-Exupéry
The Al Michkat association works with children in difficulty in the Tassoumat district of Ouarzazate.
The Al Michkat association was created on December 4, 2009, on the occasion of Saint Barbara’s Day, a traditional miners’ festival, by Malika Abdeddine, currently president of the association.
The Feast of Saint Barbara was an opportunity to demonstrate solidarity among miners, particularly with those whose families were in difficulty or suffering as a result of a mining accident.
Here is a photograph of the statue of Saint Barbara. Notice the tower in her hands. Three windows. At the foot of the statue of Saint Barbara, a miner’s lamp that can also be placed in the MISHKAT.
MICHKAT is the niche in which the house lamp is placed.
Over time, the association has grown in size and its usefulness has been recognized by public authorities.
The association is aimed at children in difficulty in the Tassoumat district, and mothers in difficulty:
- children abandoned by their parents,
- children whose parents are unable to provide their education and care,
- abused children,
- children of prostitutes
- begging children.
