This small school in the rural countryside of Xian was once visited by then President Clinton.

Unfortunately in the time since, not much has been done to update the school itself.  The partnership with Grand Circle Foundation in 2018 saw improvements by way of replacement of the rusted gate at the entrance of the school and the purchase of laptops in 2019 to be used by teachers to create a more dynamic and interactive learning environment for the younger children, and introduce the older ones to newly acquired computer skills.

Xiahe Primary School is half a mile away from the most famous Terra-cotta Warriors Museum. It is a public village school run by the local government with 110 students and 13 teachers. The students in 6 different grades age between 6-12. All the students come from the nearby villages within 2 miles.

Xiahe primary school is a public countryside school providing basic elementary education for those kids who still living nearby. After urbanization, more and more families in the village have moved to and settled down in cities. The number of kids still living in the countryside is shrinking and many countryside schools have been abandoned.
