Conservation Media Group
Total donations: $1,200,000 | Partnership: Since 2014
Catalyzing change through media. In 2014, the Lewis Family Foundation underwrote the establishment of the Conservation Media Group, a nonprofit organization that is building capacity for the use of video to create action in conservation, with a focus on ocean health and sustainable energy.
Their Catalyst Workshops bring dozens of organizations and media makers together at Alnoba multiple times a year. The family’s longtime friend and collaborator David Conover, founder of Compass Light Productions heads up the initiative.
Conservation Media Group builds capacity and connections through grant funding, workshops and consultation, so ocean and energy leaders can create compelling call-to-action campaigns with measurable impacts.
Their mission is to support the production of educational films and related media that lead the way toward conservation solutions. They support filmmakers and organizations who are creating impact in three focus areas: providing sanctuary for marine life, reducing ocean plastic at its source, and transitioning to a low-carbon economy.
The Lewis Family was proud to support Conservation Media Group by providing funding to create a capacity-building and training infrastructure to support film/video activists and non-profit organizations in producing and distributing compelling video productions with measurable impact on energy efforts and ocean conservation.
