Giving back in Thailand
Giving back is in the DNA of OAT associates as evidenced by the 55 trip leaders and associates who gathered at the Pu Ong Kha school in Thailand. Please read below the story shared with us by Khemvadee Maspiyawong, the OAT Program Services Manager in Bangkok.
The school currently serves 103 students aged 5–12, including 6 children with special needs, supported by 10 teachers and 2 staff members. It is located in a rural area where 85% of the students are immigrants from Burma and neighboring countries. Most parents work as farmers or in construction within the Kanchanaburi region. The community continues to face challenges related to limited infrastructure and basic facilities.
On 23 July 2025, Grand Circle Foundation supported the school by cleaning and improving the school landscape. This effort involved 8 associates and 47 Trip Leaders, led by Ole Wichai (RGM), who helped complete the cleaning work and served lunch to the students.
A small completion ceremony was held with the head teacher and students, marking a meaningful milestone for the school and the village.
The day was filled with smiles, laughter, and a strong sense of accomplishment for everyone involved. The teachers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the OAT team and Grand Circle Foundation for their continuous support. They emphasized that education is a lasting investment in their children’s future. The school and the community warmly welcome our travelers, hoping that these interactions will inspire the children to value education and envision a brighter future. Teachers in this community are highly respected and deeply committed to supporting their students.
Thanks you for help changing people’s lives.
