Anyone who knows me knows how much I love my job—but honestly, what I love even more is the incredible journey it takes to make things happen! Just a few months ago, we set out on a bold mission to raise $25,000 to send a container of books from the USA to Kenya. Once we hit that goal, the magic began, thanks to two amazing organizations—Books for Africa and Libraries for Kids. They worked tirelessly to source, sort, and fill a 40-foot container with books, ready to change lives.

In September, that container finally arrived in Amboseli, Kenya, and the real work began. One of Grand Circle Foundation’s biggest goals was to make sure every child in the four schools we support received a book they could keep—forever. And that’s exactly what happened.

At Lemong’o, Amboseli, Olmoti Primary, and Lewis Secondary, we set out tables piled high with books and invited the children to choose their very own. These books are theirs to take home, to share with friends, and to swap with others in their Bomas—giving them the chance to access 20-30 more books! Can you even imagine the joy of children surrounded by books, each one a doorway to a new world?

Seeing the smiles on their faces, knowing that these children now have access to thousands of books in libraries that didn’t exist before, is beyond words. In schools more than 20-30 km from the nearest town, we’ve created libraries with over 5,000 books! It’s truly surreal.

But none of this would have been possible without the generous support of the traveller’s who believed in this vision. YOU turned the dream of 3,000 children owning their own books into a reality—and added a library to four schools that will benefit generations to come.
