When giving, gives back – Jacob’s story
Sandra, the GCF Project Manager oversees the scholarship program in Tanzania and Kenya.
For the many students that she supports, she is “Mama Sandra” as she guides them, chides them and wholeheartedly “mothers” them from near and far.
Jacob has been one of her kids since 2017, where he was sponsored from Amboseli Primary school to Oloitokitok Boys High School.
Jacob makes sure to see Sandra whenever he hears that she will be in Kenya to check on projects,
and recently sent her the note below:
Your words are a beacon of light in a moment of uncertainty, and I truly appreciate your willingness to offer help and advice.
I am particularly touched by your resonated response. Your compassion, understanding, and willingness to listen made me feel validated and that I appreciate that you care about me and want to see me succeed.
Your kindness has had a profound impact on my academic journey. I feel more confident and empowered. I am also more aware of the importance of showing kindness and support to others, inspired by your example.
Thank you again for your unwavering kindness. Your generosity of spirit is a rare and precious gift.
ASANTE SANA SANDRA. BAKI SALAMA.
With heartfelt gratitude,
To all our donors on this Giving Tuesday, we add our own heartfelt gratitude for the generous support that allows us the privilege of giving these students a chance to succeed.
