An update from Strefan Mototolea on support for refugees in Romania.

Thank you for your generous support of the work we are doing to support refugees in and displaced people in Poland, Romania and Ukraine. You can help us continue to provide direct support to Ukrainian refugees by donating here.

Dear friend,

As the war in Ukraine enters it’s sixth month with no end in sight, and the nightly news focuses on more recent events, it would be easy to forget that millions of people are still fighting for their freedom and suffering. Families have been torn apart and shattered, losing everything they’ve worked for their whole lives

With your support, and a matching donation of $250,000 from the Alnoba Lewis Family Foundation, we have raised $2,734,827 and have wired $1,673,438 and committed another $466,859 for a total of $2,140,297, helping more than 48,683 people, mostly women and children.

We cannot help everyone, but we can remain true to our commitment to support as many refugees as possible in Poland and Romania. I hope you will please consider making an additional donation. Every donation, no matter the amount will help, and you can be assured that 100% of every dollar will be used to support our partners in Poland, Romania and Ukraine. Stefan and Kadir are working diligently to ensure that every dollar donated is used wisely and has the greatest impact.

I will continue to share weekly updates on the communities, organizations and people Grand Circle Foundation is supporting, and the impact of your donations. Previous updates can be found here.

Thank you again for your continued support and trust.

Peace and love,

Harriet R. Lewis

Vice Chairman

Poland: Humanosh Foundation, our newest partnership: $196,800

Humanosh Foundation was referred to us from the Lena Grochowska Foundation, which we have been supporting to renovate buildings to create housing. The Medical Mission of the Humanosh Foundation has 7 ambulances and 33 people employed (23 persons who work in ambulances and 10 doctors working in Ukraine). Every week Humanosh ambulances go in convoy with other cars to transport medical aid to hospitals and places which offer medical assistance. On their way back they bring sick and injured people who cannot be treated in Ukraine. The patients go either to Polish hospitals or are driven to the airport in Rzeszów, where planes take them abroad for continuation of the treatment.

To date, around 800 such transports were organized – 500 of them by Humanosh. These activities are needed badly as otherwise people would have no chance to live. Apart from the injured patients, for whom doctors sometimes do not have even surgical stiches, they provide assistance for other patients.

There are many people suffering from oncological diseases, who cannot count on any help in Ukraine now. Newly born children die on mass scale since there are no possibilities of helping children who have even slight problems after birth. Thus, the foundation managed to buy incubators and start transportation of these very young patients.

Grand Circle Foundation has pledged to support the purchase of 2 more ambulances ($36,000 each), medical equipment and supplies for the ambulances for one year ($132,000) and monthly maintenance and fuel costs for 6 months ($28,800), and the purchase of the first ambulance, pictured above, was recently completed.

Poland. Lena Grochowska Foundation, $725,000 funded to date

The Lena Grochowska Foundation organizes activities for the children at all renovated buildings. We have funded the renovations of 7 buildings to date, with 6 completed, the the 7th to be finished by the end of August.

Thank you for your generous support of Grand Circle Foundation, and the trust you place in our team to ensure your donation is used as intended.

Because all administration costs are funded by the Alnoba Lewis Family Foundation, 100% of all donations are tax deductible and returned to our partner sites.
