Can I tell the Foundation how I’d like my donation to be used?
Absolutely. As a donor, you have the following options:
- Make a general donation to support the worldwide work of the Grand Circle Foundation
- Make a donation to a specific school, organization or village supported by Grand Circle Foundation
You may specify your preference on our online donation form. If you’re donating by check, simply include a note with your donation specifying which school or village you’re interested in supporting (you can view a full list on our online donation form).
Please note that the schools and projects funded by Grand Circle Foundation are subject to change. In the event that the school/project you wish to support is no longer an official Foundation site at the time we receive your donation, we reserve the right to transfer your gift to an alternate school/project. Whenever possible, we will attempt to transfer your gift to a school/project in the same country with similar needs to the school/project you identified. If you are unsure as to whether we are still funding a particular site, please refer to the complete list on our online donation form.
Is my donation tax deductible and what is the Foundation’s administrative fee?
Donations made to Grand Circle Foundation are tax deductible (Federal Tax Number is 04-3175434). The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) Private Nonoperating Foundation.
All administration fees are covered by Alan & Harriet Lewis and Grand Circle Corporation so that 100% of donations are used towards projects at the schools and organizations supported by Grand Circle Foundation.
Can I purchase and send items directly to Grand Circle Foundation or the schools you support?
We are not able to accept any donations other than monetary donations made by check or credit card. Please do not send items you wish to donate to a Grand Circle Foundation site to our Boston office. In addition, we discourage you from sending donated items directly to these international sites because the schools and organizations we support do not have the means to pay for customs duties and transportation to collect the items.
Prior to your trip, if you wish, you may choose to bring along a few items for the school or community visit, such as pencils, chalk, or other school or sports supplies. Your pre-trip Travel Handbook will outline the types of items needed or requested.
After you’ve returned from your trip, if you’d like to make a donation to a school or organization you visited that’s supported by Grand Circle Foundation, we can only accept donations by check or by credit card.
Can I sponsor a specific child I met at a school sponsored by Grand Circle Foundation?
At this time, Grand Circle Foundation is only able to manage scholarships of specific children in Kenya, Tanzania or Zimbabwe.
On my next trip, what kinds of items should I bring to the school I visit?
Your OAT pre-trip Travel Handbook includes information about the types of items that are most needed and appreciated by the schools and organizations supported by Grand Circle Foundation.
Can I volunteer for/with Grand Circle Foundation?
Thank you for your interest in volunteering. Because our projects rely on local in-country partners and the people we serve to implement, we don’t have volunteer opportunities at this time. If you are looking for additional ways to provide support, we encourage you to visit our Donate page.
How can I obtain additional copies of the “At End of The Day” book.
We’re happy to hear that you’ve enjoyed reading the “At The End of The Day” book of inspirational quotations. For additional copies, we ask for a suggested donation of $10 per book to defray cost of processing. Donations can be made by mailing a check to Grand Circle Foundation and including a message requesting a book. Checks can be mailed to:
