Grand Circle Foundation hopes to help improve the passing rate at Jacob Basson.

"It was exhilarating to be with these children at Jacob Basson Primary School. They were excited to hear what work we do, spoke very good English, and had a vigorous program. We enjoyed this experience very much."

The mission of the Jacob Basson School is to provide a challenging learning experience that will translate into a successful passing rate on standardized exams. With limited resources, however, the administration faces numerous obstacles, including insufficient teacher training, overcrowding, and disrepair. The school's dormitories, which play a vital role in providing accommodations for students who live too far to commute each day, are in great need of renovation. In 2009, Foundation funds provided new mattresses for dormitory beds.

We've only just begun our partnership with this school, and there is a great deal to be done. Our priority is the safety of the students and faculty, so we are currently planning to construct a fence to keep dangerous wild animals off the property.

School in session:

Mid-January through late April, mid-May through mid-August, and early September through mid-December
