With another year coming to an end, we reflect back upon the strong leaders who have inspired us at Grand Circle Foundation. And there was no one who more so personified these qualities than the late Barbara Washburn. A dear friend and member of the Foundation's Honorary Board of Directors, Barbara was a trail blazer who persevered in the face of adversity. Her legacy is carried on by the dedication and support of our generous travelers and associates who are committed to changing the world.

Recognizing Gutsy Leaders

Accidentally blazing the trail
Not only was the late Barbara Washburn an explorer and pioneer for women—she was a dear friend of Grand Circle Foundation and served on the Foundation's Honorary Board of Directors up until her passing in September of 2014. This "Accidental Adventurer" had a zest for life and a curiosity of the world that would solidify her place alongside the great explorers of her time.
